Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 July 2026. This policy covers both the Echoes of Rock website (www.echoesofrock.com) and the Echoes of Rock mobile app.

Echoes of Rock ("we", "us") is an independent internet-radio project based in the Netherlands. We keep this simple: we run a radio station, and we collect as little as possible. This policy explains what personal data we process and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Questions or requests? Email info@echoesofrock.com.

Who is responsible

The controller of your personal data is Echoes of Rock, an internet-radio project based in the Netherlands. You can reach us for any privacy question or request at info@echoesofrock.com.

What we collect, and why

Listening to the stream

To play the radio — on the website or in the app — our streaming server automatically receives your device’s IP address, which is technically required to deliver the audio to you. We also show how many people are listening; that count is anonymous and is not linked to you.

Visiting the website

Our web server keeps standard server log files for a short time to operate the site securely and to diagnose problems. These may include your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page requested and the time of the request. The basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in running a secure, reliable service. The website sets no cookies, and we use no analytics or tracking tools and no advertising.

Now playing & artwork

The track and artist come from our own station feed. Cover images are fetched from Apple’s public iTunes Search API using only the track and artist text; no personal information about you is included in those requests.

Loved songs (app)

When you tap the heart in the app, the track is saved only on your device. This list never leaves your phone and is never sent to us.

Song requests & dedications (app)

If you send a request through the app, we receive the message you write and, if you choose to add it, your name — both of which you enter yourself. Your name is optional. We deliver these to ourselves by email so we can read them, and we delete the emails once we have handled them. We do not store requests in a database. The basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in receiving and acting on your message.

What we do NOT do

We do not sell your personal data. We show no advertising and use no advertising identifiers. We use no analytics, tracking pixels or profiling. We do not run a shop and process no payment information through this website or app.

Who we share data with

We share as little as possible. Song and artwork look-ups are made to Apple’s iTunes Search API (which contain no personal data about you). Our hosting and email providers process data only on our behalf to run the service. We do not disclose your data to third parties for their own advertising or marketing.

International transfers

Some providers (e.g. Apple, for artwork look-ups) may process data outside the EEA under appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

Server log files are kept only briefly for security and troubleshooting, then rotated out. Request and dedication emails are kept only as long as needed to handle them, then deleted. Anything saved on your device (such as loved songs) stays there until you remove it or uninstall the app.

Your rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to or restrict processing, request portability, and withdraw any consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email info@echoesofrock.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

Children

Echoes of Rock is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version. Material changes will be reflected here and, where relevant, in the app.
